Our first Saturday night Live Cut for 2009. Yeah, we’ve been slacking here at Pound Note. Anyway, we came across this gem from 1987. The BoDeans performing Good Work on the David Letterman show.  Sound quality of the video is a little off (no fault of the band), but it’s a great trip back in time.

It’s New Year’s Day and no video is more appropriate than New Year’s Day by U2. Of course, they are part of the annoying Universal Music Group which has doesn’t allow video embedding into blogs like Pound Note, so we only have a live clip for you from 1982.  Happy New Year!

This video helped introduce America to the Men at Work and the Vegemite Sandwich. Truly disturbing. The song hit #1 in the U.S., U.K., and in Australia.  The video received heavy rotation on MTV and we here at Pound Note love the complete absurdity of it! Down Under shouldn’t be analyzed, just enjoyed. So we give it 4 guitars and say “You better run, You better run for cover.”

WATN? The band hasn’t performed together since 2000.  The song however, was recently named the 4th greatest Australian song ever.

Trivia: The beer cans in the video are Foster’s with the labels obscured. Foster’s, Australian for beer!
